Preparing the Grain Offering

Something else that caught my attention in this passage: while yeast (symbolic for sin) was to be absent, salt was to be added (v.13) to the grain offering.  Who can forget Jesus’ proclamation that His followers are to be the “salt” of the earth; or Paul’s admonition that our “conversation” be always full of grace, seasoned with salt” in Colossians...

But momentum works the other way too.  Sometimes you want to change direction but momentum tries to keep...

Worship as “Worth-ship”

Saturday, January 13, 2018

The root of the word “worship” is “worth-ship”.  We worship something when we give evidence of its worth-ship to us.  Just as the Book of James makes it clear that “faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead” (2:17), if we truly give consider something of worth in our lives it must be accompanied by corresponding action.  Hope to see you in corporate worship; Jesus is...
